2011 Veterans Day – Run to RememberPosted: October 17, 2011
We have a full day of events planned to celebrate Veterans Day at UNLV this year and the centerpiece of our day is a new event called “Run to Remember”. This should be an exciting, meaningful event and we hope you’ll spend some time running with us on November 10, 2011.
Our Run to Remember will begin at 0600 (6am) on November 10, 2011, and conclude at 1800 (6pm). Runners will be running with a light-weight aluminum flag pole and a 2’x3′ US flag. (If ROTC students would prefer to run with their unit’s guidon pole/US flag, that is fine also.) The course will go from our table on Pida Plaza, north to the Veterans Memorial, west to MPE, and back. It is about a 1 mile loop and should take folks about 10 minutes to complete. However, we are asking people to sign up for blocks of TIME rather than completed loops, in order to keep a consistent schedule. Runners should simply sign up for a block of time on the shared spreadsheet (minimum 10 minutes – no stated max).
Sign up with Google Docs here.
We will have T-shirts and snacks for all of the runners, as well as a safety golf cart to drive in front of the runner to clear the way and be on-hand for emergencies. All runners are asked to arrive at the SVO/Rebel VETS table on Pida Plaza 10 minutes before the schedule run time to pick up a t-shirt and sign a liability waiver.
Any questions can be directed to Sally Caspers at Rebel VETS at 702-774-4611 or email@example.com. I’m looking forward to a GREAT event!
